Your Source of Hope and Strength

In times of immense hardship and loss, it is important to remember the source of true strength.

In 1 Samuel 30, David faced profound devastation, yet he “strengthened himself in the Lord his God” (1 Samuel 30:9).

I love the simple use of the word “but” in the passage because it signifies that everything before it is negated.

The tragedy, the trials, the negative are overshadowed by the introduction of the presence of God into the situation.  When the passage says “but David…” is the beginning of a strength and hope that passes all understanding.

This act of David turning to God in his weakest moment illustrates a powerful truth: when life’s storms rage, our greatest hope and strength are found in God.

David’s later words in Psalm 116:1-2 reflect this unwavering trust, “I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.”

Just as David found solace and strength by leaning on God, so can you.  In your darkest hours, remember that God hears you and offers the strength to endure.

Trust in Him, and you will find the resilience to face any challenge.  You too, like David, can experience the true source of strength and hope.

Remember, when life hits the proverbial fan you too can say…”but (insert your name)… and then strengthen yourself in the Lord your God.

Be Blessed!
