Have you ever noticed that some people just love to create drama?  They love to stir things up by seeking attention, talking about others and can’t stand it when things seem calm.

In the movie American Gangster the main character, Frank Lucas, has a great quote. “The loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room.”  Take a step back and observe this and see how many times it is true.  It is amazing to see the truth in this statement.

Today, and every day, stay above the fray. Don’t get caught up in the negative places some people will try to take you.

There is even a chance that by you staying in a calm and positive place you can help those who enjoy chaos see their negative ways and begin to make a positive change.

Either way positive wins.  It may not always seem like it but it eventually will.  It always does.

We could all use this in our life but let’s start by giving it first.

The most important part of this is the first line.  Be Present.

To do any of the others and make a difference doing what follows that first line you have to make sure you are present first.

Being present means being fully present and engaged in the moment.  Not just your physical body in the same place but fully present, intentional and engaged using all of your senses.

Being present and in the moment requires discipline.  Discipline from being distracted.

Once you can be fully present you are then ready to make a difference by being kind, complimenting people and helping them to use their strengths.

Make a difference in your world today.

What do you see in front of you today? Do you see an obstacle or do you see promising opportunities?

Your attitude and how you see your world will help to shape and ultimately determine your answer.

Effective and impactful leaders accept the fact that obstacles are part of the journey but those obstacles don’t keep us from our objective and final destination.

Truly effective leaders focus on problem solving and can also help those around them focus on their goals and ways they can learn, grow and use their obstacles as well.

So today, choose your attitude, choose your focus and choose a positive response to take advantage of the opportunities that you have in front of you.

Turn any of your obstacles into opportunities. You can do it.

Do you believe that you are a difference maker?

Do you believe that you could help the people that you are around every day?

Your family?
Your friends?
Your workplace?
The person you pass in the grocery store aisle?
The waiter at the restaurant?

You’re just one person but you have an opportunity to make a difference every day with many different people.

Some you know well and spend countless hours with.
Some you are around for a few minutes or hours during the day.
Some you have a one time opportunity or moment to make a difference.

You don’t have to be perfect with the opportunities that come your way but it is important that you try to make a difference in the world around you.

If we all try to do that the ripple effect of the results could be amazing but it starts with you and me.  I’m willing.  How about you?

Are you comfortable? That’s perfectly fine on a cold, snowy night but not if your goal is to live and lead a life of impact and influence.

It’s easy to shy away from stepping out to try something new.  Fear wants you to feel that way.

It’s easy to do it like you’ve always done it. Fear wants you to feel good about that.

Fear wants you to be bored. To fall into the same old routine. Fear wants you to do and be what is familiar and feel safe in what you know.

Fear wants you to be comfortable like you’re in your favorite sweatshirt or wrapped in your favorite blanket.

Don’t be reckless but don’t be afraid to lead from the front of the line. If you have led effectively you will have people there to catch you and support you.  

Fear can’t win if you decide to not let it win.
