Day 12: Anchor in the Tempest

Storms test faith.  The disciples panicked, yet Jesus calmed the waves (Matthew 8:26, ESV).  My mom faced her final storm in 2004—mysterious illness, coma, gone in weeks—whispering, “We’ll just have to trust Jesus.” She did—I can too.  He’s got this, even when I doubt.  Where’s your storm raging?

Mom’s trust wasn’t blind—it was battle-tested. Hundreds prayed; God took her home.  He’s the same Savior who stilled seas—faithful then, faithful now. I’ve doubted in my storms—job woes, grief—but He’s never failed. Lean on Him—He’s proven.  Trust isn’t just for sunny days; it’s for chaos.  What’s shaking you? He’s bigger—calming, guiding.  I’ve clung to control, only to lose it—surrender won.

Rest in Him—fear fades when faith rises. How will you lean today?  Mom’s words echo—trust Him.  He’s your peace—stand firm in your storm.

Questions:

  1. Where do you struggle to trust Jesus in your storms?
  2. How can you lean on Him today?

What You Leave Behind

What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

We all love a good quote.  A quote can make us think more deeply, stir our souls and even bring about change in our lives.

While they can have some lasting impact we should not be about trying to come up with the next catchy quote or phrase to impact people.

The impact that we ultimately have on people is found, and grounded, in how our lives intersect and impact those we lead and live with, our daily contacts, and even those we may just have a brief encounter with.

If you truly want to leave your legacy be mindful of each daily interaction.

Be kind.

Be compassionate.

Be full of grace.

Be loving.

Be positive.

If you are going to leave anything behind weave these into people’s lives.

Day 10: From Regret to Redemption

James calls us to mourn wasted time (James 4:9, ESV), but turning back to God brings victory.  I’ve chased empty things—hours lost to distraction, days to apathy—yet redirecting to Him restored joy.  It’s not about guilt, but grace.  Reflect on what’s been fruitless—then pivot to His abundance (John 10:10).  That shift’s your win.

I’ve mourned late nights scrolling, neglecting prayer—time slipped away.  But God’s not done—He redeems.  Turning back felt raw, but it birthed peace.

What’s pulled you off track?  Let it go—He’s waiting to lift you.  I’ve seen folks wallow in regret—don’t stay there.  Mourn, yes, but rise rejoicing.  His life’s abundant—victorious—yours for the taking.

Are you stuck in yesterday’s waste?  Pivot—He’s your reset.  How’s He brought you joy?  Celebrate it—He’s turning ashes to beauty.  Step into His victory today—He’s got more for you.

Questions:

  1. What wasted time do you mourn?
  2. How has redirecting to God brought you joy?

Day 5: Riding Life’s Current

“No man steps in a river twice,” Heraclitus said.  Life’s an ever-flowing stream—always shifting, never static.  Fighting it exhausts us, but flowing with it?  That’s where growth lives. Ecclesiastes 3:1 (ESV) echoes, “For everything there is a season…” I’ve resisted—new jobs, moves, losing Mom—clinging to what was.  But God’s in every twist, shaping me through the current.  Letting go of my old step goal taught me this—change isn’t the enemy; it’s the sculptor.

What shift can you embrace today?  Maybe it’s a challenge—a diagnosis, a job loss—or a chance, like my 5K.  Each bend’s a lesson, refining us for His purpose.  I’ve fought change, digging in my heels, only to find peace when I let go.  Beauty emerged—stronger faith, new dreams—when I stopped resisting.  Life’s not meant to stagnate; it’s meant to move.  I’ve seen folks drown in the past—don’t miss the now.

Trust God’s hand in the flow—He’s steering you toward good.  Step into the river; let it carry you.  How does this view shift your lens?  Change isn’t chaos—it’s creation.  Lean in, and let Him mold you into something vibrant and new.  What will you flow with today?

Questions:

  1. How does seeing life as an ever-changing river affect your perspective?
  2. What change can you embrace today for growth?

Lead Yourself

Are you a leader or a follower?

The most important person you have to lead each day is yourself, so yes, I would say I am a leader, as are you.

Not only must we lead but how we talk to yourself each day is critical as well.  Just like the people you lead.

Don’t just think of yourself as a leader of others, but of yourself too.

Chances are you have quite a few conversations during the course of your day.  Some, of course, have more than others but no matter how many people you talk to in a day the most important conversation you will have will be the constant conversation you have with yourself.

Do you lift yourself up?

Do you speak words of hope and encouragement?

Do you fill your mind with positivity and optimism?

You may be bombarded with negativity from the outside but you need to control that as much as you can.

You must control your own personal thought life. It has such an impact on your mental and physical well-being as well.

Words of hope?

Words of truth?

Words of power?

Speak them to yourself first and they will then flow to those around you and those you lead and influence.  Don’t take your most important conversations for granted.  They really do matter.

How you speak to yourself is directly related to how you lead yourself.

I’m cheering for you.
