Your approach to the day can’t be controlled by a saying you have on a coffee cup or a quote on Twitter.

Those things may get you to think but if you’re waiting for that to help you get through your day then you’re not going to have an effective or impactful day.

Your day and your leadership is a result of a consistent practice of your beliefs, ideals, and the integrity with which you do them.

Have confidence in your abilities and know that you are in the position of leadership you are in because somebody has trusted you to do your job, and there are people counting on you to do it.

Be confident, but not prideful or boastful, in your abilities and lead people because of who you are and the talents that you have.

Not because a coffee cup saying told you that you were ready for the day.

You are ready and you are able.

Which road will you take? They both lead to an unknown.

You do know that one can be filled with some pain and trials but it will eventually lead to a destination that has feelings of joy and satisfaction.

The other, you are told, is care free, free from pain and any obstacles. You will get whatever you want whenever you want.

Too many people want the latter and believe they can get on it when in reality it doesn’t exist.  If it did would you really want it?

You know the road you are on will have difficult times. There will be obstacles in your way and detours you may have to take but be courageous.  At the end of this road there is joy, satisfaction and peace because of the experience of the journey.

You will know more, appreciate more and live more by being on a road with trials and challenges.

Embrace and walk on the road less traveled.

When you serve as a leader with other people the goal is not to have them become like you.

Your goal as a leader is to get to know each person individually, recognize their gifts, identify their potential and help them become the best version of themselves.  Help them be better.

There is a lot that goes into that. A lot of relationship building.  Building trust, respect and mutual collaboration. Those are leadership lessons in themselves.

The goal of our leadership and the greatest gift you can give to those you work with is to help them see their potential and then they allow you to help them grow and become the best version of themselves.

Helping someone be better is not only a gift to them but also a gift to you as a leader. You have been allowed into their life and invited to walk alongside the road and journey they are on.  Don’t take that responsibility lightly.
