Storms Don’t Last Forever

Are you intrigued by storms?  (We’ve had enough in NW Iowa recently).  I must confess that although I am not a storm chaser I do enjoy seeing the storm clouds roll in and deliver whatever it is they bring within the clouds.

I admit that I can say that because I have not lived through deadly weather.  If you have I do not mean to minimize the legitimate terror that comes with catastrophic weather events so I am speaking about “routine” storms.

Just like a summer storm sometimes in our lives we can see and anticipate the storms coming our way.  At other times the storms can pop up and blow in very quickly and without much warning.

No matter how the storm shows up, announced or unannounced, or how intense it may be you can be confident that it will eventually pass.

In the middle of your storm it may seem like it will never end but do not lose hope because the storm will pass and on the other side of it you will be better, you will be stronger and you will see things more clearly.

I’m cheering for you.

Questions to Ponder and Pursue

1.  How do you typically respond to life’s metaphorical storms, and what strategies do you use to maintain hope and resilience during challenging times?

2.  Reflecting on past experiences, can you identify a specific “storm” that made you stronger or provided clarity in your life? How did it shape your perspective moving forward?

Finding Strength In God’s Presence

Psalm 46:1-3 ESV
[1] God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. [2] Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, [3] though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

In life, storms come unexpectedly, challenging our peace and resilience.  But as Psalm 46:1-3 reminds us, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Even when the world feels like it’s collapsing around you, with mountains quaking and seas roaring, you need not fear.

Your strength is not in your circumstances but in your unwavering God.  When faced with trials, remember that God is not distant but a “very present help” right in the midst of your troubles.  His presence is your refuge, His strength your foundation.

As you navigate life’s storms, anchor your hope in God.  He transforms your weakness into His strength, your fear into faith.

With God as your fortress, you can face any challenge with courage, knowing that He will see you through and bring you to a place of renewed strength and clarity.

Be Blessed!

Questions to Ponder and Pursue

1.  In what ways can you actively seek and recognize God’s presence as your refuge and strength during life’s most challenging storms?

2.  How does anchoring your hope in God transform your perspective and response to fear and uncertainty?

Grace

We need more grace in our world today.
Synonyms for grace include:
    Courtesy
    Politeness
    Good Manners
    Civility
    Decorum
    Decent
    Respect

How will some things ever become natural or commonplace again if we don’t start to practice them again?

But I’m just one person you say?  Yes, but how about making the world that you live and lead a better place?

It has to start somewhere and if it just positively impacts your world, then so be it, but my guess is that it won’t stop there.

Showing grace is not a sign of weakness.  It is what people need and is not given enough of.  It is a leadership and a personal trait that inspires people because of the belief they feel you have in them.

Respect the person first and then lead them.  Offer grace as needed through your leadership.

Colossians 4:5-6 ESV‬
[5]  Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. [6] Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

The Lives You Touch

“My life shall touch a dozen lives before this day is done,
Leave countless marks for good or ill ere sets the evening sun,
This is the wish I always wish, the prayer I always pray;
Lord, may my life help other lives it touches by the way.”
-Anonymous

You often recognize the influence and impact you can have on those close to you and those you work or interact with every day.

But what about those “one and done” interactions?  The clerk at the convenience store?  The waiter when you go out to eat?
The person you pass coming out of the grocery store?

Every interaction that you have today matters.  With every interaction you leave a little bit of yourself and you make a choice.

You make a choice to make experiences meaningless, and even miserable, or you can give them a smile and help to make their day.

Your life will touch dozens of lives today;
may you help them in some way.

I’m cheering for you.

Be Strong

I remember having been inspired by so many people over the years.  What did they do?  They lived life by embracing the cards they had been dealt and played them the best that they could.

The lesson?  When you face those rough situations and need to find the strength to face them think of those who have shown courage and inspired you in the past.

Draw strength from their courage and then channel that courage into action because as you stare down your challenge and then lean into it you will be inspiring someone who is watching you as you pass along strength and courage to them.

If you have received inspiration through someone’s spirit and strength, then don’t waste it.  Use it to find strength for yourself and it will be passed along.

I’m cheering for you.

Questions to Ponder and Pursue

1. Reflect on a challenging situation you currently face and consider the individuals who have inspired you in the past.  How can you draw strength from their courage to navigate your present difficulties?

2. In moments of adversity, how can you actively channel the inspiration derived from others’ courage into actionable steps, not only benefiting yourself but also passing along strength to those who may be watching and in need of encouragement?

“The Sacred Art of Waiting: Faith, Patience, and Transformation

‭‭Isaiah 40:31 ESV‬‬
[31] but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

We have used this passage of scripture before, but it is so rich with application that I think it has good application here too as we begin our study in the pursuit of strength.

Are you good at waiting?  For the most part, we are not patient people.

Isaiah 40:31 invites you into an amazing dance of faith and patience.  Waiting on the Lord is not just about biding time; it’s an active surrender to the belief that your strength is intricately tied to His divine timing.

In the midst of waiting, your character is refined, and your spirits are prepared for a transformative journey.  As you navigate life’s uncertainties, this verse becomes a beacon of hope, assuring you that the waiting period is not in vain.

While waiting can be difficult, it can also be a sacred space where you cultivate resilience and endurance, ultimately finding yourself equipped to soar to new heights, run with purpose, and walk with unyielding strength.

Questions to Ponder and Pursue

1.  How can embracing the concept of “active surrender” to divine timing transform your perspective on the challenges and uncertainties you face in life?

2.  In what ways can the period of waiting serve as a sacred space for personal growth, resilience, and preparation for future endeavors?

Improve Your View

See the road down below in this photo?

This road represents your daily life.  It represents you engaged in your daily journey.

The daily journey can consume your thoughts, play with your emotions, and make it nearly impossible to see our journey, our life, from any other perspective.

You have to focus on what is immediately ahead of you and be engaged solely in the moment.

When you feel like the view from your road and on your journey is all you can see and feel take time to see your life from a different perspective.

Take time to take off and view the road from 30,000 feet.  See the road, your journey, your life from up above.

Remember all of the things you have to be thankful for.

Remember those you love and those that love you.

Remember your blessings and the things that give you hope.

You will eventually have to get back on the road and engage in your journey but changing your view from time to time will help you to navigate it more effectively.

Do you need to improve your view?

I’m cheering for you.
