Stacking Stones Devotional

Day 15: Growth in the Unease

Change stings—like leaving warm blankets in Iowa’s winter chill.  But growth hides there. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV) promises, “My grace is sufficient…”

I’ve dreaded change—new jobs, goals like that 5K—yet they’ve stretched me. Embrace the unease; it’s God’s refining fire. What’s uncomfortable now?

I’ve stayed cozy, avoiding risk—stagnation crept in.  Change jolted me—cold mornings, new routines—and I grew.

God’s grace carries us through discomfort—He’s there.  You may resist, you may fear failure, but you will find strength when you step out.  You have more inside of you than you know.

Are you dodging something? Lean in—He’s enough.  Comfort is a trap—growth’s in the stretch.  What I have found uncomfortable has made me better—your discomfort might too.

Don’t shrink—expand.  How will you embrace it?  I’ve learned this slowly—each step of a lesson.

Trust His sufficiency—step into the cold. He’s forging something better—discomfort’s your ally.  What will you face today?

Questions:

  1. What change makes you uncomfortable?
  2. How can you embrace it for growth?

However, retirement did not signal an end to his passion for making a positive impact in the realm of sports and activities.  Todd joined BOUND, a leading sports software company, where he continues to contribute his wealth of experience and knowledge to support activity administrators and coaches. Beyond the professional arena, Todd’s personal life is a testament to dedication and enduring love.  Married to his wife, Deb, for an impressive 40 years, they have navigated life’s journey together.  Their family has grown to include three married children, each on their unique paths, and six delightful grandchildren who bring joy and laughter to their lives. Todd authored and published his first book, “The Power of One.  One Word Leadership”, in 2022.   His newest project is the “The Pursuit”, and it starts with new writings on a new page on this website.  Todd delves into the essence of your daily pursuit of excellence, offering insights on growth, resilience, and the power of redemption.  By weaving daily Scripture insights into our exploration, we bridge the timeless with the contemporary, inviting you to reflect on leadership principles grounded in spiritual wisdom.
